Introduction to Massage

The need for massages and massage therapies can easily be seen logically. Touch is the most basic and simplest way of showing comfort. When we get into an accident, the first thing to do is to feel and touch the area with our hands, although we know it may not always give us any healing solutions. Touch has often been associated in aiding the healing and recovery process of any injury or wound. This is why massage has become very popular, because of the need of modern man and woman to feel relaxed and well cared for. As the pace of our lives increases within this modern age, stress and stress-related disorders are prevalent in our society. In response to this, traditional methods of healing are being rediscovered and their validity recognised. Today, the importance of massage is widely recognised.

Massage is known to stimulate and regulate physiological processes such as digestion and respiration. It improves muscle tone, joint mobility and postural alignment, enhances the circulation of blood and lymph and balances the hormonal and nervous systems.

Not only is massage physically beneficial, it is psychologically uplifting too. Massage encourages vital energy or life force to flow freely, restoring equilibrium and balance.

Find Out More About Reflexology

Reflexology

A 50-60 minute treatment where pressure is applied to different parts of the feet which corresponds to different parts of the body. Reflexology helps to balance the body by treating it as whole rather than individual parts.

This treatment begins with a relaxing foot and lower leg massage to warm the feet and spread the oils. The therapist will massage along the feet working the skeletal system, the respiratory system and the digestive system. The reproduction system is also worked on, finishing with the lymphatic system. This treatment will help to improve the energy flow through the body and is relaxing and uplifting.
